It has been great seeing so many of you out at the barn! Several members showed in the Children's and Adult In-House Shows and a few of us went to the Polo Match at Dr. Lewis'. What great times! I always love to get everyone together.
I want to welcome many new members to the Equi-Lease Family: Michelle Hofton, Karina Alfaro, Emily Oliver, Kim Sanner, Jen Magargle, Jessica Roediger, Katie Rebois, Chelsea Horvath! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call me. Once camp starts, it will also be much easier to talk at the barn, too. WELCOME!! Upcoming Events: - Monday, 6/18: Summer Camp starts. The camp lessons run from 9:45 - 12:00 and 1:30 - 3:30. - Sunday, 7/1: DAY AT THE RACES at Delaware Park. We will be leaving CHC at 11:30. This is a beautiful park with so much to do. It is always a great time. I hope to see many of you go! Sign-up will be located in the Equi-Lease Tackroom tomorrow, 7/14. (For those interested; they have slots!) - Friday, 7/6: Equi-Lease Lesson, 7:30 PM. I will be moving it up a week since I will be on vacation the following week. Don't forget the social afterward. Always a good time! - Sunday, 7/22: In-House Combined Test. This is another great opportunity to test your skills. Registration has already started. Reserve your horse early. Also, remember to tell me if you are using an Equi-Lease horse, so that I can mark it on the reservation chart. Thanks. - Wednesday, 7/25: King's Dominion Trip! What a fun day. We take a bus down and stay all day! - Saturday, 7/28: Equi-Lease Trailride and Pizza, 6:00PM. Always a blast! Horses: - For those that don't know yet, Gemini has joined the Equi-Lease Family. She is still located in the 2nd school aisle for a couple more weeks, but her tack is already located in the Equi-Lease Tackroom. She is a level 4 horse and will be limited on jumping. She is absolutely amazing. - All the other horses are doing really well. With camp starting, I plan on trying not to use any of the Equi-Lease horses other then Debonnaire. We have several new members, so I will try my best to keep them completely open for the Equi-Lease Members. The only exception to this will be the 1st Friday of each session. We do trailrides in the morning, so I might need to use some of the horses for that. If anyone has difficulty finding a horse to ride, come see me. We can always work something out. I appreciate everyone's patience. Misc: There is a price increase in Private and Semi-private lessons. The new prices are as follows: (All Equi-Lease Members get a $5.00 discount per lesson off the listed prices.) - Resident Private: $288.00 (4) - Non-Resident Private: $302.00 (4) - Resident Semi-Private: $245.00 (4) - Non-Resident Semi-Private: $255.00 (4) - Resident Private: $73.00 (1) - Non-Resident Private: $76.00 (1) - Resident Semi-Private: $64.00 (1) - Non-Resident Semi-Private: $67.00 (1) With so many new members in Equi-Lease, I want to remind everyone that if you sign-up to ride the following horses, you also need to mark them off in the regular lesson book: (You still get them for 1 1/2 hour block.) - Debonnaire - Phishe (weekdays only) - Blackjack - Tessa - Gemini - Houston A couple other reminders: - Always rinse your bit after your done riding. - Always remember to not spread gossip about horses. Many horses need training when first coming to the barn. We work with them before going into lessons. It isn't fair to the horses if people say negative things about them, before they have had the opportunity to show what great rides they can be. - Everyone can sign-up as early as 7:00 AM to ride and beat the heat. Anyone under the age of 16 has to have supervision until 8:00 AM. It's amazing how much cooler it is early in the morning; and it's quiet! - Bring lots of water to drink and light, loose clothing to stay cool. The heat is coming! - It is 10 degrees cooler in the woods, this is a great time to get with other Equi-Leaser's and do a Trailride. Check the Trailride list before assigning your horse. Not all horses do trails. (Anyone under 16 years of age must have someone 16 or older with them). - Several Member's Equi-Lease payments are due for the month of June. I will be sending out emails later this week to remind everyone. If you know you are due, you can still make the payment without me. Just remember to also update your contract. I keep blank ones in the barn office. Our office staff can help you with that. Prices are: Limited Quarterly: $735.00 Unlimited Quarterly: $885.00 Family members get a 50% discount on the membership fee. Summer weather: - Give breaks during your ride and plenty of time at then end to cool them out. - If they are sweaty or hot, sponge them with water or hose them down. - Take them to a shady area to graze for a little while if you have time. - I'd rather not see the horses walking up and down the driveway under the hot sun on the hot pavement. This will only make them hotter. Old habits are sometimes hard to break. Sarah Hubbard, that was an amazing picture with you and Tessa at your cross-country show. How did you do? Checkout the web-site. The picture is up under both Tessa and Equi-Lease Members. Wow, that was a lot of information and I know I still forgot something. Remember, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to call, email, or talk to me at the barn. ENJOY!! Kristy Hoke
